Is HealthSpring for NorthBay Healthcare employees only?

No, HealthSpring Fitness is open to everyone in the community. It is not exclusive to NorthBay employees.

Do I have to be a NorthBay Healthcare patient to join?

 No, HealthSpring Fitness is open to everyone in the community, you do not have to be affiliated with NorthBay Healthcare to join HealthSpring Fitness Center.

Can my insurance cover it?

Each health plan varies as do benefits and coverage. Please contact your health plan administrator for more information.

Do I need a prescription to join?

 No, you do not need a prescription to join HealthSpring Fitness, it is open to everyone in the community.

At what age can children use the fitness center?

Teenagers 13 and up can use the fitness center facility, with some restrictions. Those under 13 can participate in the Kids Club activity area and aquatics center. Parents or guardians can sign children in for up to two-hour visits.

When does the first payment for HealthSpring need to be made?

The first payment is made when someone signs up, but covers your first month.

Is there a maximum membership number for HealthSpring Fitness?

Yes, we hope we'll get there by year three or four. If the number (of members) gets too high, it can degrade the experience (i.e., hard to access a piece of equipment). At that point we would either have to build another center or put a cap on the number.

Do I need to sign up for classes?

You will not need to sign up for group exercise classes.

What do I need to bring to classes?

Just proper attire and foot wear. We have "loaner" yoga mats on hand for all members, we do recommend purchasing your own for long-term use.

Where can I learn about the pool schedule and swimming lessons?

How do the lockers work?

You will simply enter a 4-digit code and turn the locking mechanism. Re-enter the code when you come back and unlock.

Are there towels?

Yes, all memberships come with towel service.

Does HealthSpring Fitness offer programs for people with disabilities/mobility limitations?

Are there programs for seniors?

How do I sign up for personal training?

Personal trainers are available at an additional charge. Please message our Fitness Director, Mike Cole, at Michael.Cole@Northbay.org for more information.

What is Movement Is Medicine?

The Movement Is Medicine Program is a fee-based, referral program by physicians or clinicians that includes an introductory membership that grants full access to our Fitness Center and a specialized training program designed by one of our certified fitness specialists.

Who is Movement Is Medicine for?

We designed this program for individuals who: have chronic health issues such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, arthritis, diabetes and obesity; Are dealing with other medical health issues, to include but not limited to neuromuscular conditions, cognitive disabilities, musculoskeletal conditions, and individuals with visual or hearing impairments; Need to get prepared for surgeries that require strengthening and/or weight loss such as orthopedic or bariatric surgery; Currently are being treated in physical therapy or who have recently completed a physical therapy or cardiac rehabilitation program and need a post rehabilitation program; and would need or benefit from a movement and conditioning program that requires assistance or monitored supervision.

Is Movement Is Medicine just for NorthBay patients?

No, the Movement Is Medicine Program is available to everyone in the community who isn't already a HealthSpring Fitness member, regardless of your health care provider.

How do I sign up for Movement Is Medicine?

All you need to do is ask your care provider about the program. They will present the introductory packages and make recommendations. Once a package has been decided, your provider will write up a prescription referral form for you to bring to HealthSpring Fitness.
